Retail Broker of the Year

2025-2026 Category Criteria

Applicable to all categories:

Must be within the calendar year 2025
Must be within the 17-county Chicago metropolitan statistical area (MSA)
Must have prepared only one Executive Summary for each Nomination

Multi-year winners are subject to the ONE YEAR MORATORIUM RULE** as stated on the awards home page.

This category recognizes individuals or established brokerage teams that specialize in the negotiation and execution of retail space transactions.

Team submissions are subject to the TEAM SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS as stated on awards home page.

In terms of the deals which form the basis of the submission:

All lease terms must be minimum three years.
Lease square footage must be indicated in net rentable square feet.
Deal must be executed in 2025 and all contingencies to the deal must have cleared.
Any deals that were co-brokered with external brokers will only receive credit for 50% of the deal’s square footage and dollar value. Deals that are co-brokered must be indicated.
Any transactions submitted with incomplete or unverifiable information (e.g. marked "confidential") may be excluded at the discretion of The Blue Ribbon Panel.
Submissions may include building representation and/or tenant representation. The SALE of land or existing retail buildings may be included, but ONLY when at least one of the parties to the transaction was/is a retail user or occupier and the sale closed in 2025.
Single or multi-tenant retail investment sales, acquisitions, or leasebacks are NOT to be included.

Executive Summary: Please summarize your submission in 500 words or less. In the event the nominee becomes a Finalist, the Executive Summary will be the only document distributed to voters.

Your summary must include the following items:

Individual Involvement/Professional Skills: Please describe the nominee's exceptional skills and/or noteworthy accomplishments in representing retail users or occupiers during 2025.
Deal Structure: Please provide detail wherein the nominee exhibited creativity in structuring transactions. You may use case studies if appropriate.
